The All New 2014 Cadillac CTS

Watch the launch of the all new Cadillac CTS live on Hollowaycadillac.com:

Here she comes... the 2014 Cadillac CTS.  with a brand new 3.6L TwinTurbo pushing 440 hp!  Power and Luxury.  Once again helping Cadillac to define themselves and the Standard of the World.

Given what we know of both the plans Cadillac has for new models as well as the available auto shows they can use to debut things…it is safe to say that the 2014 Cadillac CTS will be the model shown on March 27 or 28th during the press days.

Based on an expanded version of Cadillac’s Alpha platform that underpins the new ATS, the CTS is expected to finally take on the BMW 5 and Mercedes E head-to-head.
Expect a base turbo 2.0 4-cylinder, Cadillac’s 3.6, and a new twin-turbo V-6. The V-Series, likely powered by a forced-induction version of GM’s Gen5 small-block, will need to wait until next year.
Styling if the new CTS will bring cues from the recent Ciel concept, including a more pronounced grille treatment that has been spotted in recent spy shots from Jalopnik.
Given the importance if the CTS to Cadillac, they have a lot riding on this debut.

Cadillac ELR Undergoes Winter Testing

DETROIT – Fresh off its award-winning world debut at the North American International Auto Show, theCadillac ELR is undergoing the real-world extreme testing required to  take the extended-range electric luxury coupe from auto show stage to Cadillac showrooms in early 2014.
Engineers last week completed winter weather chassis testing on pre-production ELR models in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, evaluating the car’s handling in winter weather conditions.
More than four inches of fresh snowfall during testing helped the team validate final specifications on the ELR’s steering, tires, anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic stability control and Continuous Damping Control suspension that adjusts damping every two milliseconds to maintain optimal control over varying road conditions.
Combined with the HiPer Strut front suspension and watts link rear suspension, the ELR is designed to provide owners with a sporty, yet confident handling character.
“Being able to test the ELR in extreme road conditions, like those we experienced here in the U.P., allows us to provide a ride-and-handling character unlike any EV on the market today,” said Chris Thomason, ELR chief engineer. “During this latest test, the ELR continued to perform beyond our expectations.”
The ELR, which won the Eyes on Design Award for best production vehicle at the Detroit auto show, is based on the Cadillac Converj Concept. The ELR’s exterior establishes a new, progressive proportion for the brand.
Cadillac has been a leading luxury auto brand since 1902. In recent years, Cadillac has engineered a historic renaissance led by artful engineering and advanced technology.

Cadillac ELR Electrifies the Luxury Market

Luxury coupe blends dramatic design, industry-leading extended range technology

Cadillac unveiled the 2014 ELR, Jan. 14, at the North American International Auto Show. The sleek luxury coupe features the first application of Extended Range Electric Vehicle technology by a full-line luxury automotive brand.

The ELR delivers on the promise of the Converj Concept on which it is based. The exterior establishes a new, progressive proportion for the brand while the interior introduces a new design theme that will define future Cadillac models, emphasizing modern elegance, technology and precisely crafted details.

Industry-leading Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology provides full driving range exceeding 300 miles (480 km), combining pure electric driving and an efficient, range-extending generator.

“ELR provides a new and exciting dimension to the Cadillac brand” said Scott Currier, Assistant Sales Manager of Holloway Cadillac. “It’s exclusive and combines Cadillac’s well-renowned luxury, advanced engineering and progressive design in a coupe that is both sporty and environmentally friendly.”

ELR’s confident and responsive EREV driving technology is enhanced with exclusive Regen on Demand and selectable drive modes that enhance driving for New Hampshire residents and make the most of efficiency. Regen on Demand allows the driver to temporarily regenerate energy from the ELR’s momentum into electricity that can be stored in the battery pack for later use. It is engaged via steering-wheel paddles adapted from traditional performance cars.

The industry-leading, proven EREV technology is uniquely tuned for Cadillac in the ELR. Most daily commutes will require zero gasoline with zero emissions. Longer trips are free from electric-vehicle range anxiety because EREV technology enables the same long-distance freedom as a conventional car.

Additional vehicle highlights include:

  • Enhanced AT-PZEV emissions meet California’s criteria for single-occupancy access to high occupancy vehicle lanes
  • Light-emitting diode (LED) headlamps, daytime running lamps and taillamps, as well as signature front and rear lighting elements
  • Twenty-inch wheels paired with tires designed to balance responsive handling and a comfortable ride with efficiency
  • Interior design featuring cut-and-sew accented leather  incorporating sueded microfiber, chrome, wood and available carbon fiber finishes throughout
  • Cadillac CUE with Navigation is standard. CUE is Cadillac’s breakthrough system for connectivity and control, using Natural Voice Recognition, capacitive touch and hand gestures used on smart phones and tablets
  • Programmable charging schedules and downloadable energy efficiency reports available online and through smartphone notification charging alerts
  • Cadillac’s advanced active safety features, including Safety Alert Seat, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning, along with available Side Blind Zone Alert with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and full-speed-range adaptive cruise control
  • Advanced chassis and suspension systems, including HiPer Strut front suspension, compound-crank with Watts link rear suspension and Continuous Damping Control, which adjusts damping every two milliseconds for optimal ride and handling in all conditions
  • Standard premium Bose 10-channel audio system with active noise cancellation.

ELR production begins in the United States in late 2013 with sales to New Hampshire area drivers starting in early 2014 in North America and expanding to global markets including China and Europe.

The Cadillac ELR will be manufactured at General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant, the world’s only automotive manufacturing facility that mass-produces extended-range electric vehicles for global markets in 21 countries. It is also home to Southeast Michigan’s largest photovoltaic solar array. The 264,000-square-foot feature generates up to 516 kilowatts of electricity – enough to charge 150 ELRs per day.
